Automattic is more advanced in remote work than other companies because we are entirely dispersed. Work-at-home individuals do not lose the opportunity to experience some form of real life interaction that can only be provided by a central office. As we vibe at a company get-together or a WordCamp event, we have some of us occasionally through the San Francisco office on a luxurious occasion, but that is the exception. Our culture is created on the premise of being a group of remote workers spread all over the world. This is how we communicate and interact because it is based upon this premise.
