Why do teens speak in slang and not in the regular words?

Teenage Slang Words are a communication method among teenagers where they express themselves in a more approachable, entertaining manner among their fellow beings. Slang makes them feel that they belong to their peers, and it makes them feel as a part of an online or real-life community. The use of That is fire rather than That is great is a flair and personality. Slang is also used to assist the teens in developing generational identity, as they are unique as compared to adults. Basically, slang is not merely linguistic, but a kind of social code, which speaks of creativity, confidence and mutual understanding in their digital and cultural communities.
